Arlo Pro 2 vs iSpy w/ YouTube upload

Looking at different solutions for security cameras with cloud features I have found that Arlo Pro 2 offers free full 7 days of motion detected recordings for up to 5 cameras. That is a good deal compared to other smart cameras with cloud features. The problem is the initial price of the Arlo cameras is very expensive. Then upon looking further, I find free opensource iSpy software that supports many cheaper IP cameras. I don’t really need the wireless aspect of the Arlo 2 because I would hardwire it anyway.…

Can you help me figure out the best setup for a 5 camera security system? I really don’t want to hire it done.

So I’m building a new office building. It’s not big, it’s 2400 sq feet and nothing extravagent. It’s going to have my business occupy one side and another business operate on the other side, so it’s a duplex. Construction is underway. What I want is a 5 camera security system. One for each door and then one in the lobby of my side. I’d like to have a TV mounted on the wall in my office that shows each camera view. I’d also like to find a system that has…

First time homebuyer, looking to do things right

Alrighty… so the quick and dirty: Wife and I just purchased our first home. YAY! No more renting, thank God! It’s a single story ranch, nice little starter home, neighborhood is nice, though busy. What I’m looking to do is what I believe are some standard things, and some non-standard things. **Doors** – doors, locks, etc are getting a review and replace. The home has four entry doors total. One is a double door with no central post (however the second door has no handle, and has rather nice sized…

New to IP cameras, they all seem to have an app, do I need to use the app?

I was under the impression I could just plug an IP camera in, dhcp would give it an IP, and I could go to that IP and see what’s on the camera. Now that I have 2 different cameras I see that their quick start guide only gives info on how to setup their mobile app, I don’t want to use their app. Which cameras can I do what I want to do with? I haven’t tested these yet, probably going to plug them in in a few minutes to…

Anybody have opinions on Fisheye Cameras like Geovision?

I’m looking at [Geovision GV-FER12203](http://www.geovision.com.tw/product/GV-FER12203) for my front lawn & driveway. I heard that I need to use their VMS to get most features not sure if that is true. I need to make it easy for my wife to view so it will probably need to have a mobile interface. Anybody have experience with setting up a Geovision Fisheye? Or have experience with another brand?

Lost for Words

Edward St. Aubyn is “great at dissecting an entire social world” (Michael Chabon, Los Angeles Times) Edward St. Aubyn’s Patrick Melrose novels were some of the most celebrated works of fiction of the past decade. Ecstatic praise came from a wide range of admirers, from literary superstars such as Zadie Smith, Francine Prose, Jeffrey Eugenides, and Michael Chabon to pop-culture icons such as Anthony Bourdain and January Jones. Now St. Aubyn returns with a hilariously smart send-up of a certain major British literary award. The judges on the panel of…
