Advice Needed: Simplisafe vs Abode setup. Christmas specials happening now at the same time I’m moving in.

I’m on both websites with a system in each cart. Both have three entry sensors, one motion detector, one key fob, and one key pad. Simplisafe only wants $200 for all that but will charge $25 a month for full monitoring. Abode wants $440 for all that but includes the the full monitoring package for a year. So they basically wash, if you want full monitoring with all the amenities, which I do. What should I go with?

Senior Independent Cooperative Security system

I live in a 55 plus cooperative. There are 6 exterior doors and 2 garage doors to the building and itis in a fairly low crime area. The doors are all locked at all times and there is call box at the entry. People want security cameras and I’m researching. We have a bid on an 8 camera CCTV system that runs 24/7 and I’m thinking we will have about Zero to 1 request to see something in a 3 month span. Does this sound right or should i look…

Two potentially dumb questions

Good morning everyone There’s currently a sale on a four camera Blink XT security system for a decent price, and wanted to hear any opinions or owner reviews of this system. My next question, I know blink is not compatible with a Blue Iris setup, so I was wondering if anyone knows a good camera bundle package(1080p is ok but 4k preferred) that is compatible with the software. If the price is comparable I would probably just take the Blue Iris compatible cameras and beginsetup of that system. My end…

Is there an adapter or filter to decode a stand alone HD CCTV camera signal used for live feed without going through a DVR?

We have a “stand alone” regular QSee surveillance camera that we use without a DVR to see the store front while working in the noisy workshop. The image quality on those cameras is definitely not the best so we tried plugging a spare Lorex 1080P HD left from our recent system upgrade but it doesn’t work and my understanding is that it has to go through a DVR for the image to be decoded or amplified, I’m not really sure what the proper term to use here. Is there something…

Is RF from Wireless Security Systems Dangerous?

I’ve heard a lot of talk about the radiation given off by routers, etc., being dangerous to the human body. I wonder if this holds true for the wireless transmitters used in security systems. I know that most people think it’s so miniscule that it doesn’t matter, but I wonder if that’s true for a wireless window contact that sits by your head as you sleep. These transmitters send and receive, so it’s safe to say they are an active technology. Does anyone have any specs for radiation output on…

TestFlight now open for a new IP camera app for iOS

Hey guys, we are now opening up our TestFlight as we start to release a new version of our iOS IP camera app. Previously we only supported one single NVR, but now we are adding support for thousands of IP camera brands and models, and manual entry so even if your camera isn’t listed, you can add the feed directly. Would love any feedback as we iron out bugs and know what you think! Reply here or message me and I will send you the link. Thanks!

Security cameras for a house on a busy street? What works best?

I live on a busy city street — fairly heavy auto and pedestrian traffic. My block is a commercial/residential mix. My front door opens directly onto the sidewalk. I live in a row house, but my house is on the end so I have a narrow “alley” between my house and the next building that leads to my (minuscule) back yard. The alley is my property and it has a gate at sidewalk level. I have a *major* problem with package theft. If the package is smallish/relatively light and is…
